The End of Hunting for the Correct Shim

When working on a rear end, it is important to get your backlash and preload of the differential at just the right specification. Unlike the 220mm differential, Toyota did not install carrier shims in the 200mm rear end from the factory. However, Toyota did offer service shims for rebuilding and servicing these differentials. As aftermarket limited-slip differentials have become increasingly popular, properly setting backlash and carrier preload has become essential to achieving a quiet, long-lasting installation.
